Implementing a system for video surveillance allows monitoring and management of traffic in order to increase the security and safety of all road users. This system provides real-time information on traffic flow, congestion and if there are any potential security risks in different parts of the road. Modern systems have the ability to control traffic lights and to redirect the driver to alternative routes to optimize the flow of traffic. Taking into account the difficulty of such operations large computer resources are necessary for processing data in real time what today can be achieved only through the use of cloud services and supporting technologies. This paper provides an overview of the existing ICT solutions for video surveillance of traffic using cloud technologies, as well as proposals for their implementation.
