THE COMPARATIVE OVERVIEW OF ESTIMATION METHODS OF GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS FROM AIR AND ROAD TRAFFIC IN SARAJEVO CANTON

Abstract

The paper presents an approach in assessing the intensity of greenhouse gas emissions from air traffic in the Canton Sarajevo, through the model based on Recommended Best Practice - RBP, which have been developed through collaboration between the agency the Federal Aviation Administration - FAA, Office of Environment and Energy - AEE, USEPA, the database on emissions of engines for aircraft developed by ICAO, based on the methodology Tier 3 / A made by the IPCC. The results were compared with estimated emissions from road traffic. In the context of the assessment of pollutant emissions the methodological differences between Tier 3 and Tier 3A / 3B, thus between road and air transport, as well as the advantage and necessity of using Tier 3A methodology versus Tier 1 to estimate emissions from air transport in BiH.
